Program description
The Department of Art and Culture of the Pankow District Office supports current projects that are realized in the Pankow district and for which there is a justified public interest. Artistic, cultural and cultural-historical projects as well as cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary and theme-oriented projects are considered.
The aim of the funding is to support projects of high artistic quality that contribute to the diversity and vibrancy of cultural life in the district. This includes taking into account marginalized perspectives and culturally underserved districts as well as supporting young artists, experimental artistic positions and the already established independent scene, which contributes to the stabilization of the cultural infrastructure in the district.
Funding is available for temporary individual projects from all artistic disciplines as well as those with an interdisciplinary character, e.g. exhibitions, concerts, festivals, performances or productions and performances in the field of performing arts.
The projects must be presented at one or more locations in the district of Pankow and be accessible to the public. Educational offers, documentation or publications relating to the artistic presentation can be part of the project.
The funding serves to support particularly convincing art and cultural projects that could not be realized without the district grant because other funds are not available or not available to a sufficient extent. The co-financing of larger projects as well as corresponding complementary funding (e.g. from state or federal programs) is possible.
The maximum amount of a grant is €10,000, the application amount should be at least €1,000. A total of €155,000 is available per financial year. The grant can be applied for to finance fees and material expenses.
Institution
District Office Pankow
The Department of Arts and Culture in the Pankow district office supports independent artistic and cultural projects in the district of Pankow from district funds. Other funding instruments of the department include infrastructure funding for the independent scene in the district, funding for participatory projects with children and young people from funds of the Berlin Project Fund for Cultural Education, funding pillar 3, as well as the implementation of the KiA program for children's and youth theater at the district level.
Deadline
Applications must be submitted online by October 15 at 11:59 p.m. and submitted in parallel once in the original. The submission deadline for the original application to be submitted by post ends on the following working day.
Funding period
Applications must be submitted by October 15 of each year for projects in the following year.
Funding criteria
Natural and legal persons who live and/or work in Berlin, e.g. artists, individuals, associations or project groups, are eligible to apply. Applications from diverse perspectives and projects by artists who are underrepresented in the cultural sector due to different experiences of discrimination are welcome.
If several artists and cultural practitioners are involved in the project, the majority of those involved should live and work in Berlin. The applicant must be clearly named. The focus is on projects by or with professional artists and cultural professionals. Funding for projects with artistic participation by amateurs or cultural professionals without a professional qualification is therefore only subordinate.
The applicant and other project participants may be enrolled at a university. However, at the time of any funding, proof must be provided that they have now completed their studies and are exmatriculated. This only applies in relation to the respective first degree course; the completion of further education courses is not an exclusion criterion for funding from the Department of Art and Culture Pankow.
