Program description
The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation supports festivals, concerts with premieres and revivals, composition commissions, symposia and the publication of musicological writings worldwide. The Music Foundation also supports academies for young musicians and composers. In addition, the Music Foundation supports educational, children's and youth projects that open up new music to a new or young audience. The Board of Trustees awards funding to outstanding projects from a large number of applications received. Smaller and larger projects are generally given equal consideration.
Funding amount:
- The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation primarily covers artistic costs.
- The EvS Music Foundation does not provide full funding for projects.
- The Board of Trustees pays attention to the relationship between the requested funding and the financial contributions of other institutions, organizers or foundations. At least one other institution should participate in the project to a financial extent similar to the amount of funding requested from the EvS Music Foundation. If the requested funding amount is far higher than the individual financial contributions of the other project sponsors, the project cannot be supported.
- Comparable artistic achievements should be rewarded equally regardless of gender and origin.

- Each institution can only be supported with one project per calendar year.
- A maximum of three projects in three consecutive years or periods (e.g. in the case of biennials) can be funded.

An application is only possible if you agree to the funding conditions. If your application is approved, you will receive a funding contract based on the funding conditions. Please read the funding conditions carefully before submitting your application.

Application procedure/documents
- Applications can only be submitted online in German or English. To do this, you must register in the application system. Complete the online form in full sentences (no keywords).

- Check your application in the PDF view. Your application will be submitted to the Board of Trustees in the form in which it appears here.
- In addition to the form and the financial plan, the Board of Trustees will be presented with a further file to prepare for the meeting. This document can comprise up to eight additional pages and should contain the following supplementary information, depending on the project applied for: Concert programs, short biographies, table of contents for publications, participants and program for symposia, etc. If the file exceeds eight pages or does not meet the formatting specifications, it will not be submitted to the Board of Trustees for meeting preparation. You can upload the document in the application form.
- The application must have been sent successfully by the respective deadline, otherwise the application deadline will be deemed to have been missed. Once the application has been successfully sent, you will receive an automatically generated email confirming receipt in the system. Applications that have not been sent will be deleted from the system after the respective deadline.
Jury/Decision-making body
Funding decisions are made by an international board of trustees. It can also decide to fund only parts of the submitted project. The meetings take place in November/December and May/June. The decisions are sent in writing.
