Program description
To recognize and promote exemplary information and reporting with a focus on civic participation and political involvement, the Diverse Democracy Alliance has been awarding the Diverse Democracy Media Prize since 2020. The prize is endowed with 2,000 euros and is awarded annually. It is awarded for individual reports, articles, books, series of articles, film or radio contributions.
The prize is awarded to journalists who address current issues of democratic participation in a factual, comprehensive, objective and comprehensible manner, research them carefully and bring them to the attention of a broad public. When selecting the award winners, the Alliance for Diverse Democracy makes sure that the contributions are not influenced by clients, advertising customers, publishers, political parties and other social groups, authorities and business. Facts and circumstances must be presented in an unbiased manner.
You can apply with one or more entries (up to three on different topics) in German which can be proven to have been published in a medium within the required period of time (max. 2 years before the end of the application period). The type of contribution (film, television, radio, print, book, internet, multimedia) as well as the genre, department or length of the contribution are irrelevant.
Institution
Alliance Diverse Democracy

Goals:
- We want to contribute to a better constructive interaction of representative, direct democratic and dialogue-oriented participation.
- We advocate greater transparency in decision-making processes and opportunities for participation.
- We want to improve the quality of dialogue-oriented participation procedures for citizens and find concrete solutions for their implementation in practice.
- We want to contribute to the development of participation competencies in politics and administration as well as in civil society.
