Program description
The promotion of guest performances of French productions is a central task of the Office for Theater and Dance. Every year, it facilitates visits by artists and guest performances of their works and offers French artists the opportunity to demonstrate their vitality and diversity. With a partnership approach, the Office for Theater and Dance advises the main multipliers in Germany and acts as an intermediary between French and German theaters.
The Office for Theater and Dance actively contributes to raising the profile of contemporary French stage productions in Germany. To this end, it can provide financial, logistical or promotional support to interested organizations that apply for it.
The Office for Theater and Dance also provides advice and mediation between French artists and German directors.
Thematic encounters, known as FOCUS, enable directors from France and Germany to discover new artists from the partner country. On the occasion of a festival or an event highlight, professional actors from contemporary German and French stages come together around a rich program with many performances and encounters.
