Program description
To promote projects based on the German-Polish Treaty of 17 June 1991, the Federal Government provides €300,000 annually from the budget of the Minister of State for Culture. Among other things, the projects are to contribute to the preservation and cultivation of the Polish language, culture and tradition in Germany in order to deepen mutual knowledge of the cultures of the two countries through dialogue. The technical evaluation is carried out by an external and independent jury which meets twice a year.

Funding criteria
Applications must relate to an artistic or cultural project with nationwide relevance. Projects must have a clear German-Polish or Polish context. The projects should provide a forum for Polish culture and history in Germany. In doing so, the cultural life of Polish fellow citizens should have an integrative effect on the German cultural scene. The projects should make a significant contribution to German-Polish understanding and, if possible, be noticed in the German and Polish media.The BKM can only fund projects if there is a substantial federal interest in their implementation which cannot be fulfilled without this funding, or not to the necessary extent. Ongoing or already completed measures cannot be funded with federal funds. Therefore, the projects must not have been started before the application was submitted. In justified exceptional cases, exceptions may be permitted on application in accordance with the regulations on the early start of measures without prejudice to funding.
