Blaue Nacht Art Competition

Program description

Since 2005, the Blue Night has offered artists the opportunity to present their interdisciplinary works to a larger audience for one night in the participating institutions, in courtyards and on squares in Nuremberg's inner city.

In 2000, the year of Nuremberg's 950th anniversary, the first Blue Night invited the citizens of Nuremberg to experience art and culture in an unusual setting and at an unusual time. With around 140,000 visitors from Nuremberg, the region, the whole of Germany and abroad, more than 300 events in over 80 institutions, courtyards, squares and streets in Nuremberg's Old Town, the Blue Night is Germany's largest and most diverse Long Night of Art and Culture.

Deadline

Unfortunately, the Blue Night will have to take a break in 2021.

Funding criteria

Selection criteria: artistic uniqueness of the concept, the quality of the design, and the suitability to take into account the site- and event-specific conditions.

The blue night awards an audience prize of 5,000 € from N-ERGIE. It goes to an art project that is voted into first place by the visitors to the Blue Night. The participants or groups of participants selected by the jury each receive an honorarium of 1,500 €. In addition to the fee, the costs necessary for the realization of the artwork will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 3,500 € (incl. VAT). This sum includes all costs incurred in connection with the creation and presentation before and during the Blue Night. Please do not apply with paintings or sculptures that are to be presented in the sense of a traditional exhibition!
