Are you a musician, composer, filmmaker, producer or music supervisor? Do you work on your own projects or want to learn how to collaborate successfully between music and film?

Film x Music is a cooperation between Kreativ Kultur Berlin and Music Pool Berlin that brings the two industries together and offers practical insights into creative collaborations. How do musicians and filmmakers find each other? How does the collaboration process work– from budget planning and contract drafting to creative processes and questions such as: What role do music publishers and music supervisors play? What challenges arise and what lessons can be learned to improve collaborations?

You will have the opportunity to discuss specific questions with experienced experts and participants in small groups. In addition to expert insights from our speakers, the focus of this event lies on the shared exchange of experiences, networking, and inspiration.

Whether you want to realize your own projects, are looking for cooperation partners or simply want to find out more, Film x Music offers you the opportunity to make new contacts, deepen your knowledge, and take away ideas.

You will have the opportunity to join two of the following round tables: 
Please note: The round table "Music publishing – the interface between film & music" will be held in German and the other round tables will be held in English.

• Music in film – planning, timing and collaboration

How and when should filmmakers involve music creators in the production process? This session looks at timing, communication, and coordination between directing, production, editing, and composition to make collaboration run smoothly.

• Composing for film – collaboration & creative processes

From first ideas to a soundtrack: how can filmmakers and composers work together? And what role does AI already play in composition and sound design for films?

• What is the value of music in film? Budgets, contracts & fair collaboration 

How do filmmakers calculate a realistic budget for film music, and how can musicians define their fees and rights? A dialogue on fair collaboration and contracts.

• Presenting music on screen – documentaries, biographies & videos 

How can music and musicians be portrayed on screen – through biographies, concert films or scene documentaries? And what can be learned from best practice examples?

• Music publishing – the interface between film & music (Round table in German)

How do filmmakers and artists work with music publishers? An overview of rights, licenses, and contracts, as well as ways to create new opportunities through syncs, partnerships, and networks.

Our on-site events take place at our location, Podewil in Berlin-Mitte. The Klosterstraße subway station, located directly in front of Podewil, is equipped with an elevator. The main entrance to Podewil is accessible via a ramp and an elevator. The back entrance can be reached via another ramp. Feel free to use the intercom to reach our reception team.

Please note: due to structural conditions, the ramp at the main entrance is somewhat steep and narrow. If needed, we’re happy to assist you. An accessible restroom is available.
